How We Worship

The pastors dress smart casual, but you’ll see people in the congregation dressed in all styles – from jeans and shorts, to business suits. SBC blends the comfort and familiarity of traditional hymns with contemporary praise and worship songs. Each service lasts for about one and a half hours.

What To Expect When You Visit

We’re happy to have you

Whether you are curious or seriously seeking a “church home,” you are very much welcome at SBC. You don’t have to be a member to visit us! The steps below will help you know what to expect on Sundays, or you can start with visiting one of the weekday ministries.

Sunday morning service

Worship is at 8:30 and 10:30 every Sunday morning, with special services on Easter Friday and Christmas Eve. Yes, even when the 94.7 Cycle Race is on.

Arrive and get parked

Parking is available inside the church grounds. It generally fills up quickly 10 minutes before the service. We encourage you to come 15 minutes early on your first visit. Get a cup of freshly brewed coffee – available from 30 minutes before we start – and meet the welcome team and pastors.

Find a place for yourself and your kids

Kids are welcome to attend the worship service, or they can join one of the programs for pre-primary and primary school aged children which coincide with both of our worship services. We also have a cry room and discreet feeding room for moms.

Celebrate through worship

We start with Christ centred praise and worship led by one of our three worship teams, followed by a Bible-based message by Pastor Wayne. Afterwards, you can grab a cup of coffee, connect with our welcome team, and one of our elders or deacons in our library lounge. Our entire worship service experience lasts 90 minutes.

Be impacted by the message

Pastor Wayne communicates with a warm, honest, and personal style. Each weekend you’ll find his messages are Bible-based and easy to understand. Whether you’ve been following Christ for some time or are curious about what a relationship with God looks like, you’ll find Pastor Wayne easy to connect with. We generally teach through books of the Bible, as well as on topics that are relevant to our life and times.

Let us help you

Be sure to grab a visitors pack before you leave. Your pack includes a brochure with important info and contact numbers, a gift, and also has a DVD that you can watch in the comfort of your own home to learn more about SBC.

More Than Just Sundays

What’s the next step for getting connected at SBC?

We believe the answer lies in Small Groups which meet most evenings of the week, including Sunday. SBC Small Groups are a great place to meet with groups of like-minded people for fellowship, worship, prayer, encouragement, and support. The groups frequently meet for activities away from the church and join in opportunities for service. People who get involved in the SBC Small Groups quickly become a part of the heartbeat of SBC.

If you have questions about God, Jesus, or if you are just beginning your relationship with Christ then the Genesis Group is for you. Genesis meets every Thursday evening and provides a safe place to ask all those questions you might have, and get the answers.
